Tanning Policies
The FDA has been guarding and strictly enforcing its policies as far as tanning salons are concerned. The agency recommends only three or fewer tanning sessions the first week of tanning in a salon. However, a recent study has found that a majority of tanning facilities would allow a teenager to tan every day for a week straight. Allowing such frequent tanning could increase the risk of melanoma, especially in light-skinned teens.
Tanning (darkening of the skin) is the skin’s response to being hurt by the sun – a very dangerous procedure. Institut’ DERMed recommends fake-tanning solutions, such as spray tans to all our clients. Tanning – in a salon or on the beach – is very dangerous. Please always wear a sunblock product whenever you’re in the sun.
